A little bit about me

Hello!  My name is Dr. Janna Long.  I am NOT a seasoned author with tons of publications under my belt, nor am I a licensed medical doctor.  I am a recent doctoral graduate— Doctor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies—which pretty much qualifies me as an educator, theorist, and researcher, etc.  My interests have almost always been research based.  Thankfully, my doctorate was an extension of my Master’s degree in education AND my Bachelor’s degree in Biology where I did quite a bit of research.   In my undergraduate career I worked in a toxicology research lab for a year or so, and a neuro-molecular genetics research lab for about three years.  That being said, just know – I AM A RESEARCH JUNKIE!     I was born and raised in Texas so my grammar (I AM A COMMA LOVER), and lingo (Y’ALL), may be ever-so-slightly Texan, for which I am proudly unapologetic. Now that THAT is out of the way, let’s understand WHY I have decided to put pen to paper (or hands to keyboard in this case) and share what I have learned over the past 10 years…

I am a true believer in the power of knowledge and that once you have it, you quite possibly have some decisions to make.  10 years ago, I had some decisions to make.

After years of FOOD-LOVING and crash dieting, I was in sad shape.  On top of that, after having a baby at 40, my body went into a FULL ON REVOLT and gave me a harsh “wake-up” call!  With all my systems “out of whack”, and spiraling downward, I made the decision to take control of my health by doing the research and growing a plan to live my healthiest life NOW!

I am in the process of writing it all down so please be patient and piece by piece you will learn how I overcame some HUGE hurdles to put me on this road to a healthier mind, body and soul.
